ZOOM XXL outdoor – An installation to mark the anniversary2024

The ZOOM XXL outdoor was created for the exhibition “40 Years of serien.lighting” as a specially designed, one-off piece for the outdoor space of the Museum of Applied Arts in Frankfurt. The large-scale installation in front of the MAK translates the ZOOM principle onto a monumental scale and into an outdoor setting for the first time.

Like the original luminaire introduced in 2000, the ZOOM XXL outdoor is based on a circular scissor grid that can be flexibly opened and closed. The design was reinterpreted and technically refined for the exhibition. Despite its size, the structure remains delicate and flexible – a characteristic combination of technical construction and minimalist design.

The Icon in XXL

The ZOOM has been one of serien.lighting’s best-known designs for many years. With the ZOOM XXL outdoor, the concept was realised for the first time as a large-scale installation, making it both part of the anniversary exhibition and a visible symbol of the company’s experimental and constructive approach.
